JAKARTA Indonesian Vice-President Megawati Sukarnoputri urged calm from her followers Monday as enraged supporters of President Abdurrahman Wahid ran amok and destroyed one of her party offices in Java. Megawati's appeal came two days before Wahid's showdown with a Parliament bent on impeaching him, and followed Wahid's announcement that he had commanded security forces to restore order in Indonesia. Fanatical Wahid supporters ran amok in at least five towns in his home province of East Java, attacking an office of Megawati's Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and other opposition parties, AFP said.
